Lisa's Pics

A moment of contemplation about the world.

As we boarded the ship, excited about the notion we made it after a last minute cancelation got us tickets on the fully booked ship, we entered a silent lobby of people and we didn't understand until we were shooshed by a bartender. Then it hit me. This was one of the more emotional moments of the trip. A moment of silence for the children and the bombing victims. During the 16hr cruise, there were always at least 15-20 people huddled around two TVs getting the latest on the death toll.

Lisa and I after finding an unlocked conference room. A well deserved view after haggling over accommodations and pricing. The next one down the hall had beds and we made plans for an overnight stay in our new found Honeymoon suite. Unfortunately we were caught two hours later and evicted back to our room below deck. So close!

Lisa before the 2 km skate-a-thon in Copenhagen, James leading us into the shadow of evil (Christianshavn), and James and I on the water tour.

Scenes From Oslo Docking

The Cruising Life

This is the result of Battery Acid and Motor Oil. Our friendly lounge attendant and some aspiring Booze Bandits challenged us and we could not politely decline. I went back to the lounge to dance with some new friends and somehow the top deck pool got involved, hence...

Lighter Ferry Moments

A neighboring ship in port, the wind generators above the old fort guarding the city from attack by sea, the deserted upper deck bar because of driving rain earlier, and James and Lisa trying a penguin suit on for size. I have a Beetlejuice moment with this mirror later.

Almost done...

The old stock market and a truly remarkable building, get a close look at the elephant and its stippling, and the ferry to Oslo. Little did I know it was practically a crew ship.

Water Tour

Carlsberg Cafe, kayaking for a beer along the quay, the Music Hall in black granite that sparkles at night as it shows its soul, and the tight squeeze through some of the low bridges.

Copenhagen Water Tour (cont'd)

My next sailing yacht, the Royal Palace where the queen lives (but her flag was down so she must have run to the store for a few things), a wonderful trawler, a maintenance nightmare (after spending time redoing teak as a young boy), and the Pirate Museum.

Copenhagen Water Tour

More responsible energy usage and parking challenge resolutions (pics of the new Fiat 500 to follow from Oslo, the Operaen House with its glass in the shape of a heart to show their love of music, an incredible apartment building that used to be a pumping station, the "heart" of the Opera House, and The Little Mermaid.

Copenhagen

Everywhere there are artistically painted elephants in an awareness effort to save them, looking down the quay, the ultimate spiral staircase overlooking Christianshavn (other photos and video from here censored by a big white sign, alert "import/export" agents and trial and fail efforts to go undetected), and a little modern architecture.

Friday Night Skate

A 2 km skate around Copenhagen like Critical Mass in San Diego or Freak Bike Militia in West Palm Beach. Shout out to Kevros! James is advertising your bar around the world with his tie died T-shirt. Lisa started the skate like a trooper...

Oslo Massacre

Our thoughts go out to the many families and their losses in Oslo. The ferry is full but we're still trying to get there.
